Red lips and red nails

I got a perm and I think it somewhat resembles the hair of this Cobrasnake chick. I have very bad luck with getting my hair done because the finished product hardly ever looks like what I've pre-imagined but this time I think it turned out okay.

Definitely a yummy Oscar de la Renta ad. I have a feeling that red nails will be back in trend next year which is a bit of a bother for me because I'm currently obsessed with painting my nails black. Can anyone tell me how to perfect the red-lip? Now that's one look I really, really wish I could pull off.
