Oh dear...oh dear

Sandra Oh at the 2008 SAG Awards. Many people are probably thinking 'what on earth was she thinking wearing that gown?? She looks like a present!'. Let me explain. She was wearing a modern-day couture version of the 'hanbok' which is the Korean traditional constume. I have a bit of a soft spot for bows but even I have to say that her bow is way too overdone (and long!) and awkwardly placed. I applaud Sandra for going back to her Korean roots but I am cringing at the overall effect because I don't think she meant it to turn out that way (does anyone know who her stylist is?) but if she wanted to do a modern take on the hanbok I would probably have advised a different design and colour (of all the colours, why neon pink and black?!) made from a more delicate, sheer fabric to give a more romantic yet luxurious feel (it is the red carpet after all!). Take Korean singer BoA for example, she's wearing a modern version of the hanbok in a lovely organza-ish material and I think she looks gorgeous. This is definitely the look that Sandra should have gone for!

C-chic

Loving that look. I'm a huge fan of Yoon Eun Hye, Korean actress/singer, who you probably recognize (again) from me raving about her performance in the Coffee Prince drama.I am totally loving this androgenous chic look that she has going on for a shoot in Vogue Girl Korea. The hat, the dark moody colours, the subtle boxiness, combined with the girly, big bow and sky-high heels. I only wish that I could wear an outfit like that to class everyday~sigh.

Off to Daegu (대구)

It's that time of year in Korea again, Chuseok (추석) or Korean Thanksgiving, and since I'll be leaving for a couple of days during the public holidays I'm pretty sure I won't have any access to computers (regardless of how technologically-wired this country is!) so this is just a note to tell you where I'm off too...

LOL, this is a totally random posting of two pictures of Korean celebrity/singer Lee HyoRi. Her music is very much into dance, her singing can be disputed but she has a killer body and an unforgettable smile!! If only I had a smile like that! I was just wondering if she's famous to people out there in other parts of the world....? Till next week then...<3
