Are olives fruits or vegetables?

I've been on the hunt for an olive-green cardigan that I can wear over my floral dress for ages and ages and then SJP (on the set of Sex & the City movie) comes out with the EXACT one that I want and need!!!
Multiple shoe, stockings & massive Prada clutch envy~!

Winter footwear?

I'm curious to know what shoes everyone wears during the winter/late fall? Flats? Ankle boots, in suede or leather? Knee-high boots or heels? Since it's hard to wear anything with a heel in the snow I've always opted for leather lace-ups or sneakers...but this winter I really want to go for something a little more comfortable and sturdy. In the back of my mind, I've known that 'Australian work boots' colloquially known as 'Blunnies' or 'Redbacks' (traditionally worn as safety boots) are apparently really comfortable for normal wear. The stretchiness of the elastic-sides and the pull tabs at the front and back of the shoe lets you slip into them without the hassle of laces, but still have that firmness of lace-up boots. So now I really want a pair of these boots for this winter! If you ever happen to go to Australia, grab a pair!

Milan Fashion Week Spring '08 Picks

These Pringle of Scotland slacks are driving me crazy~!!! They look ultra slouchy and probably are very comfortable, but if only I had longer legs! It's really hard to pull this look off when you're not tall! What I really like about this Salvatore Ferragamo outfit is the orange belt, is that croc leather?
Sleek Versace has a pair of orange shoes that I covet...

When you go shopping...

do you like to look at the displays? I love checking them out! A good display can definitely persuade me into looking at the rest of the clothes in the store or booth... On my little trek around the city centre in Daegu the number of sights, smells and sounds to swallow up was overwhelming. Of course it wasn't hard to miss the new Lotte Young Plaza which is aimed for the young'ns and I happily scooted myself into the glass-walled building and was greeted with 3 levels of shiny floors, numerous Korean clothing brands and tons of other eager shoppers. Most of the displays were beautiful, simple and stylish, you really wanted to madly run in and buy everything on the racks...Eryn Brinie caught my eye and the naked buttocks of a blue mannequin caught the flash of my camera while going up the escalator. Most of the installations were a little out there but it was definitely a lot of fun for the eyes, lots of colour and lights. I wanted to take more pictures but after a few people staring at me I kind of gave up, apparently taking pictures inside is not really a normal thing, lol. Unfortunately the prices were outrageous as expected for any department store, but I and probably other shoppers were believing that there would be some sort of introductory sale but no-go there. For a first, I thought the overall presenation was very well planned out, many shoppers were already succumbing to buying and I'm wondering what they'll be installing on the upper floors besides the movie theater that's already there because it's still empty? So after a good look, off I went onto the crowded streets to do some good, price-friendly shopping. What's good about the streets is that you've got a variety of things to look at, a mix of brands like Giordano and Codes Combine and then you've got the no-brand stores with cheap clothes that are just as good as the labels. The streets were so congested probably because it was a Sunday night and it being Chuseok holiday weekend, so I guess all the young people decided to come out all at once... Daegu is definitely a nice place to go shopping but I'd recommend going there whenever there's a season change otherwise the stores will be completely boring after a few times since they don't change their stock for ages. I wanted to take more pictures but my camera was literally eating away at my batteries...
I purchased a black knitted cardi and finally got my cuff, it's silver with engraving details but very simple!!! There's lots of jewellery you can find on the streets, that and hats, shoes, scarves, socks...etc. After popping into this store and that, into lots of vinatage-y displayed stores, I finally bought green tights (finally got a sought-after pair of coloured tights!) at Yangpa zoomoney which is a really fun store with heaps of Japanese-infused clothes, accessories and shoes. I snapped a cute pic of the window display in Dressed to Kill (jeans store), I think the miniature jeans are to show what type of jeans that are available... Finally I checked out Who.A.U which is a very American-style clothing store (think Abercrombie& Fitch, Amercian Eagle...), I'm still wondering what sort of air freshener they spray, it's the most unusual smell that you notice from like 5 metres away from the actual store! Great marketing technique I suppose, since I recognize the store by the smell every time I go out in Seoul as well, that is the funniest thing.

Off to Daegu (대구)

It's that time of year in Korea again, Chuseok (추석) or Korean Thanksgiving, and since I'll be leaving for a couple of days during the public holidays I'm pretty sure I won't have any access to computers (regardless of how technologically-wired this country is!) so this is just a note to tell you where I'm off too...

LOL, this is a totally random posting of two pictures of Korean celebrity/singer Lee HyoRi. Her music is very much into dance, her singing can be disputed but she has a killer body and an unforgettable smile!! If only I had a smile like that! I was just wondering if she's famous to people out there in other parts of the world....? Till next week then...<3

Trip to MyeongDong (명동)

Stella McCartney, Chloe, Marc Jacobs, Marc Jacobs, Chloe
A few days ago I went out on a shopping trip in Seoul with two friends of mine. The first place we went to was Shinsegae Department Store (we managed to snub the bigger Lotte dpt. store though) to check out the new season boots. Of course after a few hours of contemplation, a pair of Daks, under-the-knee brown leather boots were purchased by my friend. Surprisingly, Daks makes fairly good quality shoes so if you intend to purchase any I highly recommend it. Next we literally visited every make-up counter, accumulating our efforts on our faces- Bobbi Brown (concealers work half-well), Chanel (I know everyone knows, but the blush here is extraordinary!), Vidi vici (white eyeliner pencil works wonders), Laura Mercier (essence concealer?-consistency is a bit strange), Benefit ('That Gal' brightening face primer feels great but smells horrible, a bit like strawberry-flavoured medicine). Moving on to clothing I really wanted to check out the new Banana Republic store (chain that came into Seoul Sept '07). Very disappointed with the results though. From the start of '05 and the introduction of Uniqlo, there's been a steady increase of foreign brands such as Woman's Secret, Roots, Gap and now B. Republic. Apparently Zara will be coming in by the end of this year and of course I can't wait- when will H&M come I wonder???!!! The reason I was so disappointed was that this whole concept of 'affordable clothing' had been chucked out the window. Of course, I wasn't expecting the prices to be dirt cheap but they were just as expensive as the normal brands being sold in the department store itself which is way too hard on a student's budget! We quickly zoomed out of there and hesitantly checked out the higher priced imported goods, which involved moving to the next building via a little bridge, a real FIRST for us! The opportunity was too good to pass up to miss checking out Marc by Marc, Stella McCartney, Chloe and Vanessa Bruno. While my friend was highly disappointed with the looks of the clothes on the racks (afterall they do look different on the runway, under the lights and on the gorgeous models). I marvelled over Stella's jackets, that big grey cardigan (oversized blend mohair cardigan) from Fall '07 and the ruffle-layer minidress which looks great up-in-person. We were oohing and aahing over Marc Jacob's knits and I thought that Chloe's Fall '07 orange jackets, were really quite unique! Overall, a lovely escapade which resulted in a grey-coloured shirt, for a mere 5,900 won, purchased OUTSIDE the department store (where the prices are always and will always be ridiculously high!) and a very happy wallet staring back at me.

Summer stones

Fall is here! But I'm already missing the hot summer filled with ice-cold smoothies, swimming and the blast of the air-conditioner. I've always liked to accessorize with something refreshing and cool during the heat especially with cold stones against my skin. Turquoise or green jade are my usual preferences. I definitely would have loved to wear this Dabby Reid Stone and Crystal Bracelet or this Three strand necklace with my white tank top and jeans shorts.

London Fashion Week Spring '08: Part 2

Here are more picks from LFW.
The Erdem jacket looks really comfortable, casually worn and I love the yellow chunky straps on that Roksanda Ilincic knotted dress.
Erdem, Jens Laugesen, Paul Smith Women, Sinha-Stanic, Aquascutum,
Roksanda Ilincic, Giles

The Jen Laugesen one is SO giving off a distinct Morticia A. Addams feel from 'The Addams Family', I love it! Does anyone else feel this?
And look, the shoes in electric blue are there again!

p.s I 've just realised that I've been unconsciously picking outfits in similar colours, obviously these are the hues (grey, white, black & yellow) which I am clearly obssessing over in the back of my mind at the moment.

Wrist Apparel

Lois Hill Large granulated cutout
Argento Vivo Hinged Silver
Laundry by Shelli Segal Openwork
Nadri Woven Pave Wide

Cuffs have been on my internal radar for the last six months or so, it's been the first thing I look for when I come across a jewellery stand on the streets or in a store. I've always wanted something in gold but after roaming the net, a sturdy sterling silver or silver cuff will do nicely thank you very much. Another thing that complicates things is the option of choosing something delicate and elaborate like with filligree or go for the bold, simple patterns or no pattern at all...? I have to say that I admire the asymmetry of the Shelli Segal.

London Fashion Week Spring '08 Picks

How is everyone finding LFW? I hope we're not ignoring London after such wonderful collections in New York. Let's not forget that London is just as creative and inspiring with a modern twist! So far, these are my fav outfit picks.

Christopher Kane, Jonathan Saunders, Todd Lynn, Marios Schwab, Danielle Scutt

Although I like the clothes I think I'm appreciating the offering of all the beautiful shoes, more. Look at those blue Christopher Kane beauties plus the beige at Marios Schwab!

Rag & Bone Spring '08

Who checked out the safari ride with Rag & Bone at New York Fashion Week? Was it not an awesome collection? Here, I don't know what I love more about the look, Freja Baha Erichsen's short hairstyle or the black & white outfit? I really want those chic cropped pants!
I'm just wondering but which was your favourite collection at Fashion Week? Mine was hard to choose but undoubtedly, Preen!

Double up

I usually prefer Ashley Olsen's simple style compared to her twin's but nowadays, MK's is not so bad, not bad at all...It's not often that you see people looking so stylish wearing just a simple shirt like the Olsens do all the time... (admit it, sometimes you just look and all you can say is 'wow') but then I guess accessorizing with cool shades, messy hair, coveted handbags and sky-high heels do up the style-factor a significant notch but they do overdo it a little bit with the black don't they? I wish they'd add more colour into their outfits, I'm sure they'd still look equally as chic as they do always.

Do you look this good...

when going to the supermarket? Is it the white Chanel, the grey shirt tucked and belted in those jeans, that gorgeous scarf casually slung around her neck? Rachel Bilson never looked better doing such a trivial thing as buying groceries.

What is this stuff?

I'm qawping over Carlos Miele's latest collection of dresses. What are they made out of that makes them so ripply-like-water? I'm so enraptured it makes me dizzy. Which one is your favourite?

Dress inspirations

I was checking out Tadashi Shoji on nymag.com and I discovered this absolutely divine dress. The fit and the colour is unbelievable, it's like looking at the sky & the sea at the same time! Plus I've always loved gradation! This other one is a baby blue sequin dress that is similar to the Alice & Olivia sequin dresses that are all the rage on celebs at the moment. Both of these outifts are perfect for when you want to feel fresh and girly!
On the other hand, if I wanted to go about in my 'power mode' I'd want to slip into this black Elise Overland outift with the peep-toes, chunky bracelets, and the upturned collar.
I'm also posting this pic because I like the long ribbon on this bolero-jacket because it reminded me of the 'jeogori' of my Korean hanbok and if I had it I'd plan to tie the ribbon exactly as I would with my hanbok for an interesting effect :)

Backstage at Preen

Models backstage at NY Fashion Week before the Preen show.
Vlada Roslyakova, Sasha Pivovarova
With big beads, platinum blond hair, skinny jeans, shades, vintage tees, loose shirts or dresses and of course, flats. Unfortunately, we normal people cannot copy that lankiness which models just ooze out of themselves by simply standing in a space :P

Julia Stegner, Jessica Stam, Sasha Pivovarova, Agyness Dean

Spring '08: Ralph Lauren: A Professed Love

If you know me at all, you'd know that I possess a deep love for all of Ralph Lauren's creations. Being one of my favourite designers, he never fails to impress me every collection and Spring '08 is none the different. I know it's not revolutionary, you're might say florals = spring = boring, but for one who incorporates flowers on stylishly-tilted hats, flowers on shoes (isn't the pink one beaut?), florals on flowing dresses, corsages with 20's glamour, pearls & beads, black handgloves- it always spells out sweet classic for me.

Spring '08 NY Fashion Week Picks

What caught my eye. Oversized jackets in beige, white, gray tones worn casually over shorts and dresses. Channeling the masculine look but still very feminine-- so my style. The Preen ones are so gorgeous! I'm looking for something like this to wear this Fall probably in a darker shade but it's a toss between jackets (it's that 3.1 Phillip Lim one I want) or capes that I've been pondering over for a while...
J. Mendel, Preen, Nicole Miller, Alexander Wang, Behnaz Sarapour

Delta's Baaaack!

Yes! :) One of my fav Australian singers, Delta Goodrem is on the way back (3rd album will be out Oct. '07)! So happy that she’s come up with her new single “In This Life” looking au natural with sexy, messy hair (geez, now I'm pining for blond highlights :P)! The song is rockin’ and her outfits are gorgeous in the music video~I'd describe it as very natural (bare feet) & sexy goth (kick arse boots). I so want those heels that she's wearing in first scene + the mini-dress. Check it all out here.

Feeling RED

The more I look at these shoes, the more I like them as time goes by...Me think it's just the RED-ness of the red that I like...
